Smart I.D. card designers often lead the pack when it comes to incorporating state-of-art security features into card designs. As the cost of compromised identities is high, there is a greater willingness to include tamper – proof laminates and other security add–ons to information, even if these additional features cost more.

However, there is a limit to how much extra cost the market can bear. Lucky believes that it is largely the responsibility of the smart I.D. card manufacturers to keep a check on the price. And in turn the suppliers to I.D. card manufacturers create more intelligent manufacturing systems that can help defray the ultimate card costs.
